charlatan n. A person who deceives others by falsely claiming to have expert knowledge or skill. [<Italian ciarlatano.] -American Heritage Dictionary
Everybody has psychic abilities, but that doesn't mean everyone is an accurate psychic reader. Even if someone is truly getting dreams, visions, visitations or information from spirit realms, it does not automatically mean that they are interpreting the information they get accurately. There are some very famous people out there who claim to be psychic, may very well have advanced psychic abilities, but interpret their information with their conscious, rather than their unbiased intuition. Some of these people may not even be aware of what they are really doing. Unfortunately, they may go very far and gain much recognition before people start to catch on that they are not quite on the mark.
When we interpret with our conscious, we tend to add in our own thoughts, ideas, morals, judgments, fears, beliefs, and criticisms. A clear message is void of any of these. It is unbiased and based on fact, rather than opinion or personal perspective. Contrary to popular belief, a true message will often more likely be vague and cryptic, having several layers of meanings, as opposed to being more specific. But, either way it comes through, it should resonate deeply within your soul, striking a chord of truth, at least within a few days or weeks.
Now, keep in mind, that as individuals first start out reading for others, they will go through some periods of reading with their conscious until they learn how to clear their own thoughts and preconceived notions from their interpretations. Give them time and encourage them to keep practicing. Eventually they will learn what is their conscious perspective and what is a true intuitive message.
If you, yourself, are an aspiring reader; have faith, trust your higher self and work on sorting out what the difference is between your conscious thoughts and your intuitive messages. Record your dreams to differentiate true messages from your subconscious mind sorting out your own issues. Detach yourself from feeling and thinking with your conscious. When you expect an outcome while inquiring about a topic, that outcome is what you will receive for an answer. When you are open to any possible outcome, you will receive the unbiased truth of the matter.
When you get a reading from someone, look at the following points to gauge whether the reader is using their true abilities in an unbiased matter, or interpreting with their conscious. This list can also be used to spot other individuals or groups that may not have the best intentions or your highest and greatest good in mind.
