Tried and true remedies using basic foods and products found in most homes.

Gastrointestinal discomfort
heartburn - acid indigestion - sour stomach - upset stomach due to these symptoms
Sodium Bicarbonate AKA: Pure Baking Soda

Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are taking a prescription drug.
STOMACH WARNING: To avoid serious injury, DO NOT take until powder is completely dissolved.
It is very important not to take when overly full from food or drink.
Consult a doctor if severe stomach pain occurs.
Not for children under 5.
Directions:
Add exactly 1/2 teaspoon to 1/2 glass (4 fl.oz.) of water every 2 hours, or as directed by physician. Dissolve completely.
Do not lie in a prone position.
Do not take more than the following amounts in 24 hours:
- Seven half teaspoons
- Three half teaspoons if you are over 60 years
- Do not use the maximum dosage for more than 2 weeks.

Hiccups
This is a remedy Gypsy discovered after a bout of chronic hiccups.
Hiccups are a spasm in your diaphragm, most commonly caused by overeating, excessive drinking (esp. alcohol and soft drinks) and/or excitement or stress. For hard-core hiccups; when the usual holding of your breath, drinking water upside-down, or being suddenly frightened (causing a sharp inhale and tightening of the throat) isn't helping, try...

Peanut Butter
Obviously DO NOT use if you are allergic to peanuts.

Take a heaping tablespoon (15 ml +) of peanut butter and swallow it.
If it doesn't work immediately, try a second helping.

We eat one clove of pickled garlic every night at dinner. We learned the remedy from Gypsy's dad.

To soothe your soul during the cold season, drink a hot toddy before bed, made with your choice of hot tea, a spoonful of honey and a few drops of lemon with a shot of your best spiced rum or whiskey.

Avoid excessive heat and moist/damp air. Dry, cool air is more beneficial for clearing your lungs.

Aches & Pains

Apply direct heat (ie: hot water bottle) combined with rest for the specific body part for at least 10-30 minutes.
For sprains, breaks, and the like, ice the area for 20 minutes every hour for the first 24 hours.

Remember that there is much more than just physical pain when we are feeling discomfort. Emotional, spiritual and mental pain all contribute to physical pain to make matters worse. For example; if you get stressed while you are in physical pain, your pain threshold will be weakened. You need to do whatever you can to relax and stay as calm as possible through your physical pain. The more calm you are mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically, the easier your pain will be to deal with.
